Same-sex spouses have benefit rights
The U.S. Labor Department recently issued a statement affirming that legally married same-sex couples enjoy the same federal rights as other married couples. This statement was part of a larger governmental effort to answer questions that have arisen since the Supreme Court’s June ruling which struck down part of the 1996 Defense of Marriage Act.
