A paternity case may be necessary to establish a child’s parentage depending on the marital statuses of the child’s mother and alleged father at the time of the child’s birth.
A premarital agreement (also known as prenuptial or antenuptial agreement) is made between prospective spouses in contemplation of marriage to be effective upon marriage.
Post-judgment issues are events that occur or circumstances that arise after a final judgment resolving the initial case has been entered such as enforcement, contempt, or modification.
Although the attorneys at the firm continue to practice and are experienced in the traditional litigation based dissolution of marriage, they recognize the benefits, both financial and emotional, of not going to court. They use mediation and other forms of alternative dispute resolution whenever possible. Additionally they are trained in handling matters by the Collaborative Divorce Process. Collaborative Divorce is a way of reaching resolution with the parties by the attorneys for both parties using cooperative strategies rather than adversarial techniques and court proceedings.
Loyalty to our clients is a key imperative. Our integrity depends on being worthy of our clients’ complete confidence. We pride ourselves on being trial lawyers ready and able to litigate to conclusion when settlement is impossible. However, our objective is to avoid litigation by employing alternative mechanisms for dispute resolution whenever possible. Furthermore, we strive to resolve these personal disputes quickly and quietly. We regularly participate in mediation with a high degree of success.
We believe in individualized representation because we understand that each situation is unique. Each case that we accept is a commitment which we take very seriously. All members of our office, support staff included, are attuned to the need for confidentiality and discretion. Our clients’ goals become our priorities. Once we determine those goals we establish and implement legal strategy. This takes a special blend of practicality and creativity. Yet, this is just part of what it takes for effective representation.
The attorneys at Sessums Black PA strive to be available on a daily basis, to be responsive to our clients, and sensitive to their needs. All inquiries are answered and all important decisions are made together with our clients. The fact is, marital and family law is about people and on that, we are clear.
