Sessums Black, P.A. managing partner Caroline Black Sikorske, her husband, Jeff Sikorske, and her oldest son, Will Black on Oct. 12 attended the 4th Annual Veterans Treatment Court Heroes Gala, an awards dinner and fundraiser hosted by Diversity Action Coalition, Inc. Non Profit for the 13th Judicial Circuit Veteran’s Treatment Court.

With nearly 300 enrolled VTC veterans, 65 active serving veteran mentors (125 total) and additional volunteers providing chaplain services, service dog support and pro bono legal support, the 13th Circuit VTC is one of the top VTC programs in the U.S. It has a better than 80 percent first time success rate for graduating and not returning veterans and saves Hillsborough County citizens more than $7 million in local county taxes by keeping veterans out of jail and in medical treatments and community service requirements. Its mentor program assists veterans with school enrollment and employment opportunities. The gala keynote speaker was the Honorable Robert A. “Bob” McDonald, eighth Secretary of Veterans Affairs and retired Chairman, President and CEO of Proctor & Gamble.

Riverside Recovery of Tampa, the presenting sponsor, is a drug and alcohol treatment center in Tampa and Jeff Sikorske is on the Riverside board of directors.
