Congratulations to Sessums Black Shareholder Andrew D. Reder, who starts his term today as the 2023-2024 Chair of the Hillsborough County Bar Association Marital & Family Law Section. Andrew has been active in the Section for several years and has been elected to serve as an officer each year since 2021.
Andrew is Board Certified by The Florida Bar in Marital & Family Law, a distinction held by only 273 attorneys in Florida. He’s earned a Martindale-Hubbell AV Preeminent® Peer Review Rating—the organization’s highest possible rating in both Legal Ability and Ethical Standards—and has been named by Florida Super Lawyers to the lists of “Rising Stars” in Family Law every year since 2020. He is active in numerous legal and professional organizations, including the Family Law Section of The Florida Bar, the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals (IACP), and the Tampa Lawyers Chapter of the Federalist Society.
Please join us in congratulating Caroline Black Sikorske, who on May 11 was awarded the Alberto Romero, Jr. Team Member Award by the Tampa Bay Academy of Collaborative Professionals.
The award annually recognizes a member of the TBACP practice group who consistently strives to demonstrate fairness, courtesy, dignity, honesty, integrity and an abiding sense of responsibility to comply with the standards and rules of professionalism in the practice of collaborative law.
About the award: In 2015, Tampa attorney and TBACP member Alberto Romero, Jr. died tragically in Havana, Cuba, at age 39. Alberto was born in New Jersey and moved to Tampa with his family at age five. After graduating from the University of Illinois College of Law, Alberto began his legal career in 2002 at Gulf Coast Legal Services defending indigent victims of domestic violence. He later moved to private practice, handling marital and family law cases, and in 2009 earned Florida Bar Board Certification in Marital and Family Law, the Bar’s highest level of evaluation for a lawyer. In 2011, Alberto opened his own law firm in Tampa. He was also a Florida Supreme Court Certified Family Law Mediator.
Alberto’s passion for his work was a deep part of his character. He did more than represent people during the most difficult and stressful times. He listened to their fears and hopes with compassion and understanding, and he advocated for them fiercely. He was known for his hard work and his search for solutions that treated all parties with dignity.
Caroline Black Sikorske, as a member of the CEO Council of Tampa Bay, attended an excellent presentation at the Steinbrenner Pavilion by the three ‘architects’ of Champa Bay, General Managers Julien BriseBois (Tampa Bay Lightning), Erik Neander (Tampa Bay Rays), and Jason Licht (Tampa Bay Buccaneers). They provided great advice for all CEOs, stressing the importance of good leadership, taking care of the team, and emphasizing that it takes an individual and collective effort by all team members in order to achieve greatness!
Here are some nice photos of the Sessums Black team at the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers – AAML – Florida Chapter‘s 45th Annual Institute in Orlando. Caroline Black Sikorske and Alex Caballero are AAML Fellows, a designation that recognizes professionalism and excellence in the practice of family law.
